Brides Need Not Fear, Their Modest Dress Is Near

When it comes to fashion every bride feels she like she must look her absolute best.
For the LDS bride finding a modest dress can be difficult. The first question is where to look for the dress?

The best place to start is the internet. Each bride-to-be needs to think about what type of dress she wants. Most bridal shops generally make alterations on dresses.
There are also plenty of bridal boutiques in the Idaho and Utah that sell modest bridal apparel.

Circle of Love located in downtown Rexburg is a bridal shop that specializes in modest bridal apparel as well as prom gowns.

Circle of Love has affordable prices with a wide variety of styles such as A-Lines, sheaths, and ballroom gowns.

With beautiful sashes, lace, and tulle, Circe of Love’s gowns are meant to not only to make a bride look modest, but also elegant.

After the wedding is over brides can take their dresses to Circle of Love for preservation treatment.

To find view samples of wedding gowns brides can visit www.circleofluv.com.

Another store with modest bridal apparel is Treasure Formal Bridal-N-Tux’S also located in the downtown area of Rexburg.

If there is still no dress to be found, what’s a bride to do?

There’s no need for tears, a Bride can still find a dress. If the dress she envisions does not exist, maybe there is a similar one that does.

The internet is known for its many modest wedding dress sites such as www.beautifullymodest.com.

Beautifullymodest.com has gowns ranging from $436- $1,172 in the styles of ball gowns, princess cut, and sheath cut.

There is also a size chart to show a bride how she can figure out her correct dress measurements.

Latterdaybride.com is another site that specializes in modest wedding gowns and prom apparel with approximately 75 different styles. Dresses range from $840-$1050.

Brides need not fear, there dress is near. All they need to do is think about what they want and how to find it. Starting out locally is always the best followed by looking at the internet for great steals and deals.

Fashion Can be a good thing, but how we dress can say a lot about who we are.

Some students might ask: Is having a dress code fair? Students at BYU-Idaho are required to dress within a certain set of standards. Students are expected to come to campus in nice, modest, business-like attire rather than casual street wear. Shorts and flip-flops are not allowed on campus. If students violate the dress code they are then asked to go home and change.
While to some this may seem unfair, to the students of BYU-Idaho it’s an everyday thing that they are used to. The dress simply helps students to focus on who they are on the inside rather than who the world thinks they should be.

Freshman Jodie Hunter likes the dress code for the very reason it helps her to dress modest as well as professional. Hunter However wishes there were a few things that could change though.

“I think flip-flops and capri pants should be allowed as well as sweats for the testing center. It is good to be comfortable when taking a test. It keeps me relaxed,” Hunter said.

Dean of Students, Kevin Miyasaki, said how students dress is an indicator of all things and reflects who they are as a person.

“You dress according to the situation with what’s appropriate for the occasion. There’s a time to dress up and dress appropriate,” Miyasaki said. “Whatever the setting dress indicates that you understand who you are and shows the Lord as well as others that you recognize who you are.”

Students at BYU-Provo have a similar dress code, but with a few minor differences. Students are allowed to wear shorts as long as they are knee length. Students are also allowed to wear capri pants as well as flip-flops.

Junior Alicia Garcia a former BYU-Provo student said just as students are asked to dress a certain way at BYU-Idaho, students at BYU-Provo are asked to dress as if they have made temple covenants.

“I have loved my experiences at both schools. I think it is all pretty much the same. They have both been great and both have had their draw backs but they are schools run and organized by the Church of Jesus Christ and they do well at educating the future leaders of the gospel,” Garcia said. “If people do not agree with the dress and grooming standards they obviously do not understand the purpose of this university.”

Senior Woody Myler felt the dress code dealt with more than just spiritual and religious things.
“It will help us beyond our time here. It sets a standard for the university. Most successful universities have a standards. It really helps us to become student leaders. That is really the mission of the university,” Myler said.

Dressing appropriately also helps students to stay focused in class. Junior Mark Jensen enjoys when girls dress modestly.

“It really helps a guy’s mind to focus better when girls dress modestly,” Jensen said. .

Having the fashion blues? Maybe it's time you threw some things out, and added something new and hip to your wardrobe.

Do you have the spring time blues and look at your closet with bit of sadness, staring at last year's fashions with utter dismay and disgust? The webpage, http://beauty.ivillage.com/, offers a few tips on how to turn your frown upside down. According to Jean Luciani, a New York City style expert you first need to "take an inventory" on what you have. First decide on what you want and what you plan to throw out or give away. The things you decide to keep need to be things that are classic items that fit you well and can be worn year round. Some items that you rarely wear Luciani recommends every girl keeps, especially the dressy ones. You may find a time to wear that little black dress you have hanging in your closet.

Debbie Wright, a Connecticut based Wardrobe consultant, recommends that you get rid of the clothing that doesn't relate to your current lifestyle. Wright further recommends that girls buy clothing that "celebrates our positive features." She also recommends that we "dress for our current day- to- day life."

Have too many charity based t-shirts taking up room in your closet? According to Michelle Rodriguez, owner of Well Styled, Austin Texas wardrobe makeover service, it is time to get rid of them especially if they are never going to be worn. She also suggests that worn out sandals with a permanent inner-sole footprint be thrown out as well.

When shopping for new clothes a lot of us think that we can manage buying something that we think will "shrink in the wash or stretch out" says Anna Rice, a wardrobe stylist in Boston. Rice says that the clothing probably won't shrink or stretch out and that you will be stuck with an outfit that doesn't flatter you're figure. Buy something that fits you well she says.

Make sure to look for items that are available year round says Stacey Pecor, owner of Olive & Bette's, a boutiqe in Manhattan. She suggests that shoppers look for season-less fabrics, colors, and shapes.

So there you have it, when rummaging through your closet make sure you have items that can be worn year round. If this be the case don't throw them out! Make sure you only get rid of things that don't flatter your figure or that you don't wear anymore. After all someone else's trash is someone else's treasure.

Also be on the lookout for items that fit you well and accentuate your outer beauty.
